TWiT Live Shortcuts

This app adds items to the shortcut list (widget list on ICS) which enable you to open BitGravity's video streams (high and low quality), as well as the audio stream from twit.am, in your default media player. They can be placed on the homescreen, on the dock, or used by any application which can make use of shortcuts. Keep in mind that this app uses the default media player for mpeg/video. So if you happen to change the default player with another app, and that other player can't play back the Bitgravity streams, the player simply won't play the stream and probably crash. In that case, you'll have to clear the default application for mpeg/video intents, which is quite unrelated to this app. Note: This app is rock solid. It is no media player, it contains no media player. If something appears to be crashing, it's the phone's media player which crashes because it can't handle the stream from the internet, so make sure that the player you're using can deal with it. For example, the default player of the Galaxy S3 can't play back BitGravity streams and crashes, and there's nothing this app can do about that. So don't rate this app badly because some other app can't fullfill your expectations. ------------ Changes v2.0 - v3.0: - Added a safeguarded mode to the shortcuts, which is enabled by default. It helps you to find out what to do when you don't have a suitable media player installed. Safeguarded shortcuts don't link directly to the audio/video streams, but instead indicate the app to launch the media player with those streams. The old mode, where direct shortcuts are created to the audio/video streams, is still avaliable, and has the benefit that you can uninstall the app after creating the shortcuts, as long as you're not using the TWiT Live Chooser shortcut. The benefit of safeguarded shortcuts is that if you don't have a suitable media player installed, you will get a warning and the opportunity to directly open Google Play, instead of getting an message. Changes v1.0 - v2.0: - One new shortcut type has been added: . This one allows you to select the stream type and quality after the shortcut gets clicked, which was a feature request.- The dialog - which is the one that appears when you click on the application icon - now has a button which allows you to directly create a shortcut on the home screen. This feature required the addition of the INSTALL_SHORTCUT permission.
